Leh to host the national event for the 6th International Day of Yoga
Prime Minister Modi is expected to carry out 'yogasanas' based on Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) during the event.
Leh is to host the main national event for the sixth International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21 June 2020. The events on the day will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was announced by the Union Minister of AYUSH Shripad Naik.
? It is expected that a large congregation of around 15,000 to 20,000 people will participate in the high altitude location like Leh for the first time.
? There will be a 45-minute yoga drill based on Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) during the event.
? Prime Minister Modi is expected to carry out 'yogasanas' based on CYP.
? The plans are being implemented by various industrial bodies, including CII and FICCI, educational bodies like CBSE, UGC, and NCERT, among other stakeholders.
The observation of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by Prime Minister Modi at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 27 September 2014. The International Day of Yoga was first observed on 21 June 2015. In 2019, the Yoga Day event was held in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
